Attractions Local To Villa Garda

Villa Garda is based close to the sea front of Torquay which is the biggest of the three towns that make up the English Riviera. The other two being Paignton and Brixham. The three towns are all located around the horseshoe shaped TorBay. Torquay is well placed for exploring not just the English Riviera but South Devon as a whole. More information about specific areas of interest can be found by clicking one of the links immediately below.

In addition to the information you will find on our webpage about exploring Devon, it is also worth noting in this section that Cornwall is not too far away and there are some destinations that can make a great day out. This includes the Eden Project, Trelissick and the Lost Gardens of Heligan.

Babbacombe Theatre - Babbacombe, Torquay
Little Theatre - home to the TOADS Theatre Company
Palace Theatre - Paignton
Princess Theatre - the main theatre for Torquay and Torbay

Abbey Gardens - located on Torquay Sea Front. Highlights include the Italian Gardens.
Brunel Woods - Just below Brunel Manor, these woods were landscaped by Brunel himself for his own estate.
Princess Gardens - These stunning gardens run along Torquay sea front and are dotted with Torbay palms.
Royal Terrace Gardens - also based on the seafront and recently restored as a vibrant, cultural, public space.

Not only is Torquay the birth place of Agatha Christie, but it is also the perfect base from which to explore 'Agatha Christie Country'. The perfect starting place is Torquay sea front, the location of a number of relevant places that have become known as the Agatha Christie Mile. These include Princess Gardens, Princess Pier, Torre Abbey, the Pavilion, Beacon Quay and Torquay Museum. Further afield are key locations such as Meadfoot Beach, Anstey's Cove, All Saints Church, and beyond the bounds of Torquay are Oldway Mansion, Dartmouth Steam Railway, Churston Court and Elberry Cove. But perhaps one of the biggest attractions for Agatha Christie fans is her favourite holiday home, Greenway, which is set in an idyllic and tranquil setting on the banks of the river Dart, just outside Galmpton on the edge of Torbay.
